The Challenge
RE-DAI Precision Tools, a leading hand tool manufacturer in Taiwan, was facing significant challenges due to its traditional industrial manufacturing and management model. The company had a diverse portfolio of production machinery acquired over the years, which led to a haphazard approach to managing the machinery. The challenge for Impelex was to implement a real-time system that monitored machine operations and incorporated a mobile dashboard to prevent power outages and improve overall production efficiency. RE-DAI needed a fully mature communication solution to unify and control all the disparate systems on one platform.
About The Customer
RE-DAI Precision Tools, founded in 1984, is one of Taiwan’s leading hand tool manufacturers. The company has enjoyed decades of success in the tools fabrication market. As an established leader, RE-DAI has continued to follow a traditional industrial manufacturing and management model, even during recent times that have presented significant challenges. The company has a diverse portfolio of production machinery acquired over the years, which has led to a haphazard approach to managing the machinery. The company needed a solution to unify and control all the disparate systems on one platform.
The Solution
Impelex leveraged a ready-made OEE solution, one of Advantech’s iFactory Solution Ready Packages (SRP), to meet the challenge. By utilizing Advantech’s rich industry experience in smart factories, Impelex quickly developed an OEE SRP that was easily deployed on the factory floor, avoiding costly and time-consuming in-house development and integration. With all of RE-DAI’s production machinery now communicating and functioning at maximum efficiency, Impelex was able to explore the many advantages Advantech’s SRP offered. Impelex trained RE-DAI technicians how to command an eagle-eye view of all RE-DAI resources using the OEE system from the main dashboard. The digital transformation led RE-DAI to retrieve 100% of the data collected from its diverse infrastructure.

Predictive Maintenance for Industrial Chillers
For global leaders in the industrial chiller manufacturing, reliability of the entire production process is of the utmost importance. Chillers are refrigeration systems that produce ice water to provide cooling for a process or industrial application. One of those leaders sought a way to respond to asset performance issues, even before they occur. The intelligence to guarantee maximum reliability of cooling devices is embedded (pre-alarming). A pre-alarming phase means that the cooling device still works, but symptoms may appear, telling manufacturers that a failure is likely to occur in the near future. Chillers who are not internet connected at that moment, provide little insight in this pre-alarming phase.
