The Challenge
Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan (BCBSM) had been relying on Covisint for seven years to manage the access of 6,500 agents to member enrollee package information as well as training and support materials. The challenge was to integrate BCBSM's business applications into a single platform and securely manage access to the applications based on a user’s profile. The agents needed to log into BCBSM’s Agent Secured Services portal, powered by Covisint, to register for training services, access information specific to BCBSM products and manage their overall book of business.

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan (BCBSM) is the largest health plan in Michigan. They provide health benefits to more than 4.5 million members residing in Michigan in addition to employees of Michigan-headquartered companies who reside outside the state. The company has been a customer of Covisint for seven years, relying on them to manage the access of 6,500 agents to member enrollee package information as well as training and support materials.
The Solution
Covisint provided a solution that worked behind the scenes to verify an agent’s identity and ensure the agent is granted access to specific information based on their user profile. In addition to providing identity and access management for BCBSM’s Agents, Covisint also provides secure identity and access management for BCBSM’s group customers. Covisint's solution enabled enterprises to effectively manage entitlements (what users can do within Cloud applications) and base them on enterprise roles. With Covisint, BCBSM no longer had to be concerned with the cost and complexity of the do-it-yourself approach to security and lifecycle management. Covisint provided BCBSM with a centralized audit and logging of each user’s activity to and from their applications and also tracked and audited activity on a per application basis.
