The Challenge
Northline Express operates three e-commerce sites offering over 17,000 SKUs to their customers. With online competition growing, CEO Robert Cochran realized the need for a new solution to improve the ease of setting up new products and automating functions. The old system was not designed well for getting data in and out, and integrating third-party apps was almost impossible. The company spent three years searching for the right product to address its needs. The biggest requirement was that the new system had to integrate with the Magento e-commerce website and handle configurable items.
About The Customer
Northline Express is a company based in Northern Michigan with a workforce of 20-30 employees. The company operates in the e-commerce industry, selling thousands of home-oriented products online. The company operates three e-commerce sites (NorthlineExpress.com, WoodEze.com and MosquitoControlTrap.com) along with marketplaces on Amazon, eBay and Rakuten, offering over 17,000 SKUs to their customers. The company was founded in 2001 by CEO Robert Cochran, who saw the evolving e-commerce industry and wanted to be part of it.
The Solution
Northline Express decided to purchase Acumatica 5.0 with the Financial Management and Distribution Management Suites. The solution was chosen for its ability to integrate with the Magento e-commerce website and handle configurable items. The company also added on the Kensium ECommerce Management System (KEMS) and Kensium Stock Item Enhancement (SIE) to further enhance its operations. The CEO appreciated how much time Acumatica would save them through automation and how it could be configured to run the business as deemed necessary. The company is considering adding on warehouse management and shipping applications in the future.
Operational Impact
  • Improved data management, easier, more accurate tracking and reporting of financial data.
  • Enhanced integration with e-commerce websites.
  • Automated processes save management time and effort.
