MANE, a leading flavor and fragrance group in France, was facing the challenge of preserving its business model and maintaining the secrecy of its formulas in a fast-evolving world where workplaces are experiencing accelerated digital transformation and relying more heavily on remote workers. The company needed to rethink its growth strategy and improve its IT infrastructure. They sought a secure solution to enable productivity for its modern work environment while ensuring its trade secrets stay secret. The company also needed to improve data and information system security by enhancing access controls, privilege management, and visibility over its numerous third-party suppliers and systems managers.

MANE is a family firm that is France’s leading flavor and fragrance group and one of the industry’s world leaders. With 150 years’ worth of experience, MANE has unique capabilities when it comes to identifying, capturing, and reproducing the scents and tastes that enliven human existence. Today, MANE employs over 6,500 people. Well-established both in France and internationally, the group has 27 production facilities and 50 R&D/Innovation centers across 39 countries. The company has challenged itself to preserve its business model for the long term, while staying true to its authentic values and maintaining the secrecy surrounding its formulas.
The Solution
MANE implemented the BeyondTrust Privileged Remote Access solution to secure the connections of sites and subsidiaries, while enabling mobility of employees and third-party access. The solution was chosen to deliver simplification and take into account the company's degree of maturity. The implementation project kicked off in September 2020 with an audit of the group’s IT environment and ecosystem. This was followed by a pilot phase. Ultimately, the solution will be used by IT and production staff, a total of 165 people in different sites worldwide; first in-house, and later by third-party suppliers and service providers. The implementation of BeyondTrust’s Privileged Remote Access solution is only the first step in MANE’s PAM strategy.
