The Challenge
RISE™Robotics, a leading manufacturer of high-performance and cost-effective electric linear actuation solutions, faced significant challenges in tracking each component that goes into their cylinders. Prior to implementing Asset Panda, the team relied on spreadsheets to track the change history of cylinder repairs. This method proved inefficient and problematic, especially when multiple people tried to update the same spreadsheet simultaneously or when additional versions were created. This manual and ineffective tracking system reduced efficiency and caused a lack of visibility into the service engineers' work. Furthermore, the team could not effectively track every piece of inventory used as repairs were completed. Another challenge was the inability to easily track the ages or necessary calibration of the tools and equipment used during the repair process.
About The Customer
RISE™Robotics is a leading manufacturer of high-performance and cost-effective electric linear actuation solutions. The team at RISE™Robotics has been developing and prototyping the RISE™Cylinder, an electric alternative to hydraulic cylinders that helps machine designers increase efficiency, reduce emissions, and extend machine life. RISE™Robotics is based in Somerville, MA and partners with manufacturers of liftgates, construction machinery, garbage trucks, agricultural machinery, and more. To make and service their cutting-edge technology, RISE™Robotics needs to track each component that goes into all of their cylinders.
The Solution
To address these challenges, Lab Manager Tom Rufo implemented Asset Panda, a platform he had used successfully at a previous company. Asset Panda was chosen for its robust change history, customizability, and mobile app. Rufo set up the necessary workflows in Asset Panda for effective configuration management, using barcode labels for every item. This allowed the team to scan each component and complete the appropriate actions as a cylinder was disassembled and reassembled. The platform also enabled the team to manage the entire lifecycle of the product by tracking the serial number of each component used. This not only helped track the performance of their product but also the performance of the service engineers. Asset Panda also improved inventory management by accurately tracking which parts had been used, enabling more accurate forecasting for reordering components. Another team began using the platform to manage tool and equipment calibration, effectively tracking which tools needed to be calibrated and when. Finally, office administrators began using Asset Panda to track and manage IT assets.

Smart Water Filtration Systems
Before working with Ayla Networks, Ozner was already using cloud connectivity to identify and solve water-filtration system malfunctions as well as to monitor filter cartridges for replacements. But, in June 2015, Ozner executives talked with Ayla about how the company might further improve its water systems with IoT technology. They liked what they heard from Ayla, but the executives needed to be sure that Ayla’s Agile IoT Platform provided the security and reliability Ozner required.

Predictive Maintenance for Industrial Chillers
For global leaders in the industrial chiller manufacturing, reliability of the entire production process is of the utmost importance. Chillers are refrigeration systems that produce ice water to provide cooling for a process or industrial application. One of those leaders sought a way to respond to asset performance issues, even before they occur. The intelligence to guarantee maximum reliability of cooling devices is embedded (pre-alarming). A pre-alarming phase means that the cooling device still works, but symptoms may appear, telling manufacturers that a failure is likely to occur in the near future. Chillers who are not internet connected at that moment, provide little insight in this pre-alarming phase.
