The Challenge
Videndum Production Solutions (VPS) faced challenges with outdated and varied static reports from their primary applications, IFS ERP software and Salesforce. The sales team received information that was no longer current, and multiple employees created slightly different reports, leading to inconsistencies. The company had been using BI Office and other tools like Business Objects, Crystal Reporting, and QlikView, but needed a more advanced BI solution to deliver a single source of truth and granular analytics.

With around 2,000 employees in 11 countries, the company and its brands, including Vinten, Sachtler, and Litepanels, are market leaders. The Videndum Production Solutions (VPS) division relies on two primary applications: IFS ERP software and Salesforce, which hold critical data for the company's growth.
The Solution
Videndum Production Solutions implemented Pyramid’s Decision Intelligence platform to combine data preparation, analytics, and data science. This allowed them to replace static Crystal Reports and use a SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS) cube built with the Microsoft Business Intelligence stack. The implementation was done in two parts: first, redeveloping reports to make accurate insights more available, and second, focusing on putting dashboards in front of more users. A two-month training program was conducted to teach employees how to use the interface. Salesforce now provides revenue and order information, which Pyramid turns into business-critical insights at the end of each month. The VPS Quality Department can now create dynamic presentations with data pulled directly from Salesforce and IFS, and there are plans to issue Pyramid licenses to more users.
Operational Impact
  • Pyramid allowed the VPS data team to advance the analytics process and create a new layer on top of existing data models, connecting directly into IFS and Salesforce data sources.
  • The platform enabled salespeople to see up-to-date information within half an hour to an hour every day, significantly improving visibility.
