The Challenge
Blom Transport, a Hamilton, Ontario-based company, was struggling with the management of its fleet operations. The company, which services the metal recycling industry and mill services for the metal-making industry, was finding it increasingly difficult to keep up with the paperwork associated with its operations. The company was manually managing its operations using spreadsheets, which was time-consuming and inefficient. The owner, Jukka Blom, initially thought that they couldn't afford software to streamline their operations. However, the amount of time spent on paperwork made it clear that they couldn't afford not to have it. The challenge was to find a solution that could help them manage their operations more efficiently, reduce the time spent on paperwork, and allow them to focus more on their core business.
About The Customer
Blom Transport is a Hamilton, Ontario-based company that services the metal recycling industry and mill services for the metal-making industry. The company runs approximately 10 units consistently around the clock. The company was founded by Jukka Blom, who initially started in the scrap hauling business while also running a scrap yard. However, as the business grew, he decided to focus solely on the trucking business. The company prides itself on its efficient operations and its ability to service its clients effectively. However, the manual management of its operations was proving to be a challenge, leading them to seek a solution in Axon Software.
The Solution
Blom Transport turned to Axon Software to help streamline their operations. The software has been instrumental in tracking loads, paying drivers, and providing clarification for drivers. It has also integrated accounting into the software, eliminating the need to import data into another accounting software. The software also tracks equipment, drivers, owner operators, insurance, accounting, and bank accounts. Axon Software has significantly reduced the amount of time spent in the office, allowing the team to focus more on the business itself. The software has sped up the driver settlement process by four to fivefold, and everything is done in one transaction. The software also allows for different owner operators on different pay scales, reducing the risk of errors. The rate tables feature also helps in automatically copying rates from one location to another, eliminating the need to look up or wonder what the rate is.

Predictive Maintenance for Industrial Chillers
For global leaders in the industrial chiller manufacturing, reliability of the entire production process is of the utmost importance. Chillers are refrigeration systems that produce ice water to provide cooling for a process or industrial application. One of those leaders sought a way to respond to asset performance issues, even before they occur. The intelligence to guarantee maximum reliability of cooling devices is embedded (pre-alarming). A pre-alarming phase means that the cooling device still works, but symptoms may appear, telling manufacturers that a failure is likely to occur in the near future. Chillers who are not internet connected at that moment, provide little insight in this pre-alarming phase.
