The Challenge
Unisoft Infotech, a player in the highly competitive IT services industry, was facing the challenge of keeping up with changing trends and increasing customer demands. Many customers rely on Unisoft Infotech to support some of their most critical systems, including SAP applications. The company must deliver top levels of performance and availability for these enterprise applications and data—or it risks losing valuable business to competitors. In the past, Unisoft Infotech hosted core applications on in-house servers, and ran a small number of virtual environments on a hosted cloud platform. To take better advantage of the flexibility offered by the cloud model, the company wanted to move more customer workloads into the cloud. However, the high cost of its existing cloud service proved to be an obstacle.
About The Customer
Unisoft Infotech provides enterprise resource planning (ERP) and supply chain management solutions for mid-market companies. Established in 1996, Unisoft Infotech has operations in Singapore and India, and serves customers across Africa, Asia, the Middle East and US. As a player in the highly competitive IT services industry, Unisoft Infotech must constantly raise its game to keep up with changing trends and increasing customer demands. Many customers rely on Unisoft Infotech to support some of their most critical systems, including SAP applications. The company must deliver top levels of performance and availability for these enterprise applications and data—or it risks losing valuable business to competitors.
The Solution
Unisoft Infotech launched a search for an alternative provider that could help it to build a more cost-effective and scalable cloud infrastructure, capable of supporting a greater number of customer environments. This search led the company to SoftLayer. Working with IBM Global Technology Services, the company moved to the SoftLayer cloud infrastructure, delivering top performance and availability for customer systems, including SAP applications. Unisoft Infotech selected SoftLayer bare metal servers to underpin its expanded private cloud infrastructure. Using Microsoft Hyper-V virtualization technology, the company has configured a number of virtual environments for supporting different customer workloads. And with SoftLayer offering convenient hourly and monthly pricing models, Unisoft Infotech can easily add more servers as demand grows.
