The Challenge
For Farmers’ recruiting department, meeting the company’s aggressive hiring goals — and locating, vetting and securing talent to fill its many districts — proved challenging. Run as independent districts, Farmers’ agents traditionally relied on insurance-specific recruiting software, for all of its talent sourcing necessities. However, the tool’s auto-generated email system proved too basic and underpowered for Farmers’ hefty goals, causing Agency Development Manager Michael de los Reyes of Farmers District 22, to search for a new method to get the job done. In 2013, de los Reyes heard about Jobvite and was intrigued by the robust, customized, sourcing capabilities presented by the Jobvite Engage platform. After extensive product research and testing, de los Reyes’ team selected Jobvite as the best fit for Farmers’ needs, and rolled out Jobvite Engage across the entire district.
About The Customer
In the world of insurance, Farmers Insurance has made itself a household name. With an offering that expands from auto loans to life and home insurance, the multibillion dollar company’s chief goal is to help customers protect what’s most important to people. With over 10,000 employees across 21 states, Farmers has made this goal a reality.
The Solution
Today, Farmers’ strategy has left the generic email process behind, embracing Jobvite’s advanced customizable capabilities to help target and attract ideal talent. Plus, thanks to Jobvite’s keyword searching features, de los Reyes’ team is now able to quickly evaluate a candidate’s resume for experience, interests and work history, helping them source the right applicants for the job. “With Jobvite, we have much more control over when our emails go out and we can customize them based on a candidate’s experience, so we’re sure to get responses,” says de los Reyes. “They know now that we’ve read their resume, and that there’s a real person on the other end of the email.” Powered by Jobvite Engage, Farmers regularly hires experienced, well-fit applicants, and they couldn’t have more positive things to say about the application process. As de los Reyes explains, many of the candidates mention how much they appreciated a custom, thoughtful email while being recruited — and de los Reyes credits Jobvite for that capability. An added complication of Farmers’ recruiting process is the kind of roles they’re often looking to fill. Because many of the opportunities at Farmers involve becoming an Agency owner, the company’s recruiting team prefers to target passive candidates to offer upward mobility and the chance to take control of their careers and financial future. While some candidates might view becoming a business owner as risky, de los Reyes and his team do their best to communicate that risk and reward go hand in hand when furthering a career.
