The company has grown rapidly in the last four years through consolidations, acquisitions, and because their conveyors, sorters and palletizing systems are in such high demand. Because of this, the number of laptops have increased, and the ability to track and manage them has become increasingly difficult. The Intelligrated IT Department was concerned about potential laptop theft, and needed a solution that would allow them to track and secure laptops in the field. After researching available options, they chose Absolute.

Intelligrated is a leading North American-based single-point provider of automated material handling solutions, such as conveyor systems, sortation systems, robotic and conventional palletizing systems, warehouse control software and more. Headquartered in Mason, Ohio, Intelligrated designs, manufactures and installs their solutions for those in consumer products manufacturing, distribution, parcel and postal industries. Intelligrated has over 2000 employees and 7 helpdesk locations in North America, allowing them to provide 24x7 customer service and support to their clients. Using automation, their products help retailers reduce manufacturing downtime and increase warehouse packing and distribution productivity. A high number of employees work hands-on at the manufacturing level at the Intelligrated offices and at customers’ plants. With such a mobile and geographically dispersed workforce, laptops are a must.

Absolute protects all of the laptops (about 1300 devices and growing) at Intelligrated. “All the laptops we have now as well as new devices we purchase in the future will have Absolute installed,” said Allspach. From the Absolute Customer Center, IT can see the location of all laptops, as well as asset management and software license auditing data. IT administrators can access and view the data within the cloud-based console, or they can generate reports to share more widely. If a laptop goes missing, the Intelligrated IT team can see the location of the device, freeze it, or delete any data it may contain. Because Persistence® technology is embedded in the core of each machine at the factory, the Absolute DDS agent will automatically re-install even if the hard drive is replaced or the machine is re-imaged. In case of theft, the Absolute Investigations team can perform a forensic investigation to determine who has the computer, what they’re doing with it, and whether any data was accessed. Then they can provide local law enforcement with evidence to aid in the recovery of the stolen laptop.
