The Chemicals Regulations Directorate (CRD) of the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) was in the process of splitting its two main websites into two separate IP addresses. The first, public-facing website was to be moved to a third-party hosting provider. However, CRD needed to find a hosting provider who could provide a managed environment for its second secure site that also included the management of Actian Ingres and OpenROAD. As a result, CRD needed more than just a simple hosted Windows environment. A number of criteria had to be taken into account: the future of the existing in-house environment provider was unsure, the approach to outsourcing the secure website had to be low risk as the whole area of support for hardware and environment was under review, and the managed service had to be controlled yet flexible enough to allow CRD staff access when necessary.
关于客户
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is a non-departmental public body of the United Kingdom and is responsible for the encouragement, regulation and enforcement of workplace health, safety and welfare, and for research into occupational risks in England and Wales and Scotland. As part of the HSE, the Chemicals Regulations Directorate (CRD) ensures the safe use of biocides, industrial chemicals, pesticides and detergents in order to protect the health of people and the environment.
解决方案
CRD decided to outsource the running of the secure website to Actian and signed a twelve month managed service under Actian’s Enterprise Management Service (EMS) to provide an Ingres, OpenROAD and IIS environment for its website. Having provided the new hardware and operating system via Actian partner Rackspace, Actian prepared the software environment and installed the secure website, with all monitoring and support undertaken remotely using Actian’s Enterprise Management Appliance (EMA) solution during business hours. In moving support of their secure website environment to Actian, CRD had a number of key objectives: to upgrade to the latest version of Actian Ingres and Actian OpenROAD before migrating to the new environment in order to future-proof the solution, to ensure a seamless migration from their existing in-house environment provider to the outsourced solution, to provide a low-risk, low-cost managed environment for hosting their production website so they could retain responsibility for ongoing development of the website, to provide a model for the future outsourcing of managed environments.

ELI LILLY ADOPTS MICROMEDIA’S ALERT NOTIFICATION SYSTEM
Pharmaceutical production is subject to a strict set of enforced rules that must be adhered to and compliance to these standards is critically necessary. Due to the efforts of WIN 911’s strategic partner Micromedia, Lilly was able to adopt an alarm notification infrastructure that integrated smoothly with their existing workflows and emergency hardware and protocols. These raw energy sources enable the industrial process to function: electricity, WIN-911 Software | 4020 South Industrial Drive, Suite 120 | Austin, TX 78744 USA industrial steam, iced water, air mixtures of varying quality. Refrigeration towers, boilers and wastewater are monitored by ALERT. Eli Lilly identified 15000 potential variables, but limitations compelled them to chisel the variable list down to 300. This allowed all major alarms to be covered including pressure, discharge, quantity of waste water discharged, temperature, carbon dioxide content, oxygen & sulphur content, and the water’s pH.

IoT Solutions Give Commercial Fishing Real-time insights
Technology to support vessels in the commercial fishing industry had not changed significantly since the advent of radar. Over the past 40 years commercial fishing in the United States has continued to be one of the most active, yet regulated industries. The combination of federal regulations and lack of technology created an opportunity for Faria Watchdog to go-to-market with a solution.

The Home Depot's IT Innovation with Nutanix: A Case Study
The Home Depot, the world's largest home improvement retailer, was facing a significant challenge in enhancing the performance and scalability of its IT infrastructure while reducing the total cost of ownership (TCO). The company's traditional approach of upgrading to faster servers and more efficient storage was no longer sufficient. The Home Depot needed a more innovative solution to reduce TCO and improve operational efficiency for its vast retail store and e-commerce business. The company was also looking for a way to consolidate its server, storage, and virtualization teams into a single operations group to optimize and manage the entire infrastructure stack from a single console. The challenge was to find a solution that would allow them to achieve these goals while also enabling them to quickly deploy new applications to internal users and customers.

Modular AI Defect Inspection Solution for Efficient Semiconductor Equipment Upgrades
Smasoft Technology Co., Ltd., a System Integrator that develops industrial automation software and offers AI application solutions, was commissioned by a semiconductor equipment manufacturer to implement AI inspection features into their Extreme Ultraviolet Light (EUV) pod inspection machines. The existing AOI software in the EUV pod inspection machines could only identify defective products but could not trace the cause of the defects. The manufacturer wanted to upgrade their machines with AI features to make the products more useful. The AI solution needed to complete the analysis of 380 images for a single pod within two minutes and inspect different materials simultaneously. This required multiple sets of AI models for interpretation. The solution also needed to be installed in a cabinet in the lower half of the machines, which posed a challenge due to the limited space. Smasoft needed to purchase a hardware solution with strong computing performance, stable operation, compact size, and flexible configuration to overcome these challenges.

Revamping EE's Legacy ERP: A Case Study on BT's Strategic Transformation
EE, even after its merger with BT, was operating its ERP estate on legacy infrastructure, hosted on the premises of a third-party supplier. This outdated system resulted in a volume-based operational model, higher time to market, longer delivery cycles, and unsatisfactory customer experience. BT recognized the need for a strategic transformation of these aging ERP systems and sought a partner who could proactively manage application services. The partner was also expected to handle development requirements associated with application management services, drive accountability, and ownership with a time and target-driven transformation of these services. BT's primary goals were to improve customer experience, reduce cycle time, and measure these improvements with precision.
