挑战
Universal Business School Sydney (UBSS), one of Australia’s major independent higher education providers, faced two key challenges. Internally, it aimed to support students on their journey to a successful academic conclusion of their studies. Externally, it had to satisfy the high standards of compliance expected of the country’s registered higher education providers set by the Tertiary Education Quality and Standards Agency (TESQA). UBSS had to access multiple internal and external data sources to meet its mission of providing a richer and deeper understanding of the teaching and learning process, as well as enriching its students’ experience. The complexity involved six different academic management systems the organization uses while interacting in real-time with various departments for academic data, visa and immigration data, and international student intelligence.
关于客户
Universal Business School Sydney (UBSS) is one of Australia’s major independent higher education providers. It offers business degrees at Bachelor’s and MBA (Master of Business Administration) level. With a campus of more than 1,600 students, UBSS has the seventh largest MBA student enrolment in Australia. The school's mission is to provide a richer and deeper understanding of the teaching and learning process, as well as enriching its students’ experience. To achieve this, UBSS must access multiple internal and external data sources. The school interacts in real-time with the Department of Education, Skills and Employment for academic data, the Department of Home Affairs for visa and immigration data, and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade for international student intelligence.
解决方案
UBSS deployed artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning with the Qlik Sense data analytics platform to meet its challenges. The Qlik Sense associative engine was used to seamlessly bring all relevant data together for detailed analysis. This allowed UBSS to make better, more informed decisions. The deployment of Qlik, with the help of Qlik partner, Impulse Analytics Pty Limited, put UBSS in a good position to make informed decisions about coping with the COVID-19 pandemic. UBSS was able to use the data from Moodle, the student learning management system, to see the interaction of students with the curriculum, lecture times, and assessment schedule. This allowed UBSS to react very quickly to the changing situation.
运营影响
  • UBSS was able to maintain a high level of service and results during the COVID-19 pandemic, with student feedback remaining high.
  • The school was able to analyze and achieve great insights to assist in decision making, not only on a daily basis where speed of decision making is critical, but also strategically for the longer-term cycle.
  • UBSS staff benefited from the speed with which the information comes through and have a better understanding and input into the way their reports come out and all fit together.
数量效益
  • Student retention increased as did the completion rate of studies.
  • UBSS recorded a level of more than 80% student satisfaction rate for QILT.
  • UBSS scored 20% higher than the national average in quality of learner engagement.
