Nacional Financiera (Nafinsa) was hindered by complex financial calculations, large databases, and manual information management processes. The bank was spending too much time gathering and analyzing data and producing important reports. The bank sought to standardize and automate its analytics and decision-making processes. The bank formed a selection committee to compare market-leading BI tools according to applicable procurement laws. It focused on software vendors that were well positioned in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for analytics tools.

Nacional Financiera (Nafinsa) is a development bank established in 1934 by the Mexican government. It stimulates growth and monitors banking activities throughout Mexico. Nafinsa runs its operations primarily through commercial banks and non-bank financial intermediaries. Its main funding sources are loans from multilateral agencies such as the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), credit lines from foreign banks, and the placement of securities in international and domestic markets. Nafinsa strives to promote the development and modernization of the Mexican industrial, commercial, and service sectors; stimulate the development of financial intermediaries; implement new programs to support small and medium-sized enterprises; and be the financial agent of the federal government in negotiating, contracting, and managing credits from abroad.

Nafinsa purchased WebFOCUS and set out to automate decision-making processes in three important areas: Guarantees, Credit, and Supply Chain. In just four months it developed an important analytics application for eBI Development, analyzing data from these three key segments. Each segment includes key performance indicators (KPIs) related to credit guarantees, account balances, financing terms, and other essential functions. The BI application makes it easy for managers to track important affiliations, statistics, balances, and many other banking details. Popular reports include Summary Detail Balances, Operations Summary, and Operations Detail. The team is currently incorporating new features for data visualization, graphics, and trend analysis.
