挑战
The company faced a longstanding problem with the uncontrolled ordering of extra products or services during home construction. Site supervisors would place orders quickly to avoid delays, often with non-preferred suppliers or at different prices. This process involved manually noting orders in a 'run book' and matching them with invoices later, leading to a lack of visibility and control over actual expenses. This resulted in unrealized margins due to unseen orders, which usually ran to a few percentage points of the gross cost of a build.
关于客户
Porter Davis Homes is one of Australia’s largest and most respected home builders, operating throughout the metropolitan and outer Melbourne region. The privately-owned company builds contemporary homes catering to all budgets and has been named Victoria’s most professional builder nine times in its 13-year history. It has also been awarded the title of 'Australia’s most professional builder' on four occasions and was named one of BRW’s Top 50 Places to Work in 2011. The company is known for its willingness to embrace sophisticated information technologies for business benefit, being one of only two home builders in Australia to operate the SAP ERP solution and the first to mobilize its field staff with the OneBlink enterprise mobility platform.
解决方案
Porter Davis Homes approached EcoView Mobile to discuss mobility solutions for improving their order process. EcoView Mobile recommended OneBlink, an Australian headquartered Mobile Enterprise Application Platform (MEAP) provider. The solution had to integrate with SAP, be device-independent, fast to deploy, and affordable. Using OneBlink’s Forms package, EcoView worked with a core team of construction supervisors and the Information Systems team to develop a mobile solution for ordering, procuring, and approving building materials. This significantly redesigned and streamlined the entire order process, allowing order data to be captured on smart devices and loaded into SAP right from the start.
运营影响
  • Increased productivity and direct cost savings as key benefits.
  • Site supervisors can now place orders directly using their smartphones or tablets, with a list of pre-approved products from approved supplier contracts.
  • Orders are transmitted directly to the appropriate manager for approval, removing the need for supervisors to physically come to the office.
