Aladom's Journey Towards Carbon Neutrality with Greenly

Use Cases
  • Continuous Emission Monitoring Systems
The Challenge

Aladom, a French online platform that connects users to a variety of services, was seeking a simple and effective solution to conduct their Greenhouse Gas (GHG) report. The company wanted to evaluate the impact of digital technology on their carbon footprint. The challenge was to accurately measure their GHG emissions to structure their environmental policy and devise an action plan for long-term emission reduction. Aladom was committed to acting for a more responsible digital world and a better future, but needed a reliable tool to quantify their emissions and guide their sustainability efforts.

About The Customer

Aladom is a French online platform that connects users to a wide range of services. The platform allows users to find a babysitter, a gardener, an assistant, a handyman, a math teacher, a computer troubleshooter, and more, anywhere in France. The site provides 250,000 services offered by companies, associations, and individuals. Aladom is committed to reducing its carbon footprint and contributing to a more responsible digital world. The company is a member of the Impact France movement, which aims to promote sustainable and responsible business practices.

The Solution

Aladom partnered with Greenly, a member of the Impact France movement and a recognized solution in the market with the French Tech Green 2020 label. Greenly's measurement solution was simple, intuitive, and precise, making it an ideal choice for Aladom. The carbon footprint assessment conducted by Greenly took into account not only Aladom's direct and energy-related emissions (Scope 1 & 2) but also indirect emissions caused by service providers and services used by the company (Scope 3). With the comprehensive assessment, Aladom was able to identify major emission items and assign managers to each. The company then involved the relevant departments to define the most impactful reduction actions within reach, while respecting their 2021 development and growth objectives.

Operational Impact
  • The carbon footprint assessment conducted by Greenly provided Aladom with a clear understanding of their GHG emissions and the impact of their operations on the environment. The detailed breakdown of emissions sources enabled the company to structure their environmental policy more effectively and devise a targeted action plan for emission reduction. The assessment also facilitated greater involvement and accountability within the company, with managers assigned to each major emission item. This has set Aladom on a path towards carbon neutrality, aligning with their commitment to a more responsible digital world and a better future.

Quantitative Benefit
  • Aladom's total carbon emissions were quantified at 106t CO2e in 2020.

  • Digital technology was identified as the largest contributor to Aladom's carbon footprint, accounting for 70.6% of total emissions.

  • Service purchases and fixed assets contributed 7.5% and 7.1% to the total emissions respectively.
