The Challenge

Autofleet, a leading solution provider for fleet and mobility operators, was faced with the challenge of offering its customers a platform that was secure, reliable, and scalable. The company provides solutions for asset-heavy fleets and mobility operators to optimize their operations and launch new on-demand ride services. The comprehensive and modular nature of the company’s solutions meant that reliability, security, and performance were crucial to its operations. Failures and downtime could have a negative impact on their customers' core businesses. Furthermore, the company needed to be able to scale at will and with little notice. Whenever Autofleet signed a new client, the platform was immediately subjected to high volumes of extra traffic, which posed a significant challenge.

About The Customer

Autofleet is a leading solution provider for fleets and mobility operators, helping them optimize operations and launch new passenger and logistics services. The company is active worldwide, optimizing millions of monthly rides. Launched in 2018, Autofleet aims to help businesses with asset-heavy fleets, such as car rental, car sharing and taxi companies, as well as public transport and micro-mobility operators, become more environmentally and financially sustainable. The company offers three core solutions powered by a single platform. These include a Fleet Planning Simulator, a fleet operation optimization solution, and a turnkey ride solution. Autofleet is globally active across Asia, Europe, and North America, with offices in Tel Aviv, the United States, and Singapore.

The Solution

Autofleet partnered with Google Cloud and MSP Partner DoiT International to base its operations on Google Cloud. The company found the security, reliability, and time to deployment they were looking for in Google Cloud. The easy integration between different components allowed Autofleet to get things to production quickly. The company’s platform makes intensive use of several Google location-based services, leveraging the seamless integration of Google Maps and Google Cloud, as well as the rich datasets and rapid scalability of the Google Maps Platform. The powerful capabilities of BigQuery Geospatial are utilized to process and analyze live fleet trip data. The Distance API and Distance Matrix API are used to determine the most efficient routes and calculate accurate ETAs. The Places API provides fast and accurate address capture, and Dynamic Maps are employed for visualization and spatial awareness. The majority of Autofleet’s workloads are on Google Kubernetes Engine, which allows them to set up and tear down production environments and development on the fly.

Operational Impact
  • The partnership with Google Cloud has enabled Autofleet to offer its customers a platform that is secure, reliable, and scalable. The easy integration between different components of Google Cloud has allowed Autofleet to get things to production quickly, improving their time to deployment. The use of Google location-based services, including Google Maps and Google Cloud, has enhanced the company's ability to provide location analysis and live vehicular traffic data, which are key factors in their solution. The use of Google Kubernetes Engine has allowed Autofleet to set up and tear down production environments and development on the fly, enhancing their operational efficiency. Looking forward, Autofleet plans to further scale, develop its service offering, and improve its operations, with a focus on creating an increasingly streamlined platform that makes more efficient use of resources.

Quantitative Benefit
  • Google Cloud enables instantaneous scaling with no extra configuration, allowing Autofleet to scale from thousands to millions of rides in one night.

  • Google Cloud provides mobility operators with the security and spatial intelligence they need to anchor core operations.

  • Google Cloud supports rapid expansion with Google Kubernetes Engine, allowing Autofleet to set up and tear down production environments and development on the fly.
