The Challenge
Brex Inc., a financial service and technology company, was facing a significant challenge in automating its financial workflows. The company's goal was to provide an all-in-one finance solution for businesses, including features like Bill Pay, which allows businesses to manage and pay their bills in one place. However, much of the industry still relied on manual, error-prone workflows, particularly in document processing. Brex found that traditional OCR solutions were not reliable enough. The processed information from uploaded receipts or bills was often incorrect, requiring verification and re-typing. Even solutions that claimed to use machine learning were not achieving high enough accuracy and required substantial upfront work from the Brex team to set up templates. The challenge was to find a solution that offered high accuracy and low latency.
About The Customer
Brex Inc. is a financial service and technology company that aims to provide an all-in-one finance solution for businesses. Their goal is to help businesses 'launch confidently, scale fast, and realize their full potential.' They offer products and services that reimagine every area of the financial system, aiming to provide a friendlier and faster experience that unlocks more value for customers. One of their features, Bill Pay, allows businesses to manage and pay their bills in one place. However, they were facing challenges in automating their financial workflows, particularly in document processing, due to the unreliability of traditional OCR solutions.
The Solution
Brex chose Scale Document AI to process their documents. The Scale team was able to deliver a high-quality, fine-tuned model that met Brex's requirements for high accuracy, low latency, and customization. Scale AI's team of AI and ML experts customized the model and solution for Brex. Initially, Brex had chosen another vendor, but the accuracy and speed were not satisfactory. After switching to Scale, the accuracy and speed of document processing increased dramatically. Scale Document AI continuously improves with more data, and integration into existing systems only requires a few lines of code. This solution allowed Brex to automate its financial workflows with high accuracy and speed, reducing the need for manual verification and re-typing.
