The Challenge
BH Telecom, a leading provider of communication services in Bosnia and Herzegovina, aimed to become a regional leader in cloud and Internet of Things (IoT) services. They identified a significant market gap for solutions that collect and exchange data to enable smarter environments, optimizing resources like power, water, and lighting. Additionally, they saw an opportunity in providing a robust, secure, and cost-effective infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) platform for enterprise clients. However, the challenge was to deliver these solutions to customers rapidly and at competitive prices. The existing environment could take months to build such a solution, which was not feasible in the face of competition. It was crucial for BH Telecom to accelerate their service delivery without compromising the reliability of their services.
About The Customer
BH Telecom d.d. Sarajevo, founded in 1992 and headquartered in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, is a leading provider of communications services. Their services include fixed-line, mobile, and broadband. The company went public in 2004 and reports annual revenues of USD 331 million. BH Telecom aims to become a regional leader in cloud and IoT services, identifying a significant market gap for solutions that enable smarter environments and provide robust, secure, and cost-effective IaaS platforms for enterprise clients.
The Solution
BH Telecom collaborated with BBS and IBM to create and deploy an automated cloud provisioning process based on IBM Cloud Orchestrator. This enabled the company to rapidly provision and scale resources from its private cloud environment, running on IBM Power® 770 and x86 servers. The implementation of IBM Cloud Orchestrator was completed in just nine months, a significantly short time for such a project. With this solution, BH Telecom could use pre-configured patterns to set up new enterprise customers in their private cloud quickly and efficiently, without disrupting their day-to-day business operations. The IBM solutions also facilitated BH Telecom in realizing its vision of delivering cutting-edge IoT services, with their IoT platform provider QSS Sarajevo.

Vodafone found that traffic for the applications peak during the four-month period when the international cricket season is at its height in Australia. During the 2011/2012 cricket season, 700,000 consumers downloaded the Cricket Live Australia application. Vodafone needed to be able to meet customer demand, but didn’t want to invest in additional resources that would be underutilized during cricket’s off-season.
