The Challenge
BlueGrace Logistics, a non-asset based 3PL, was launched during an economic downturn in a highly competitive market. To succeed, BlueGrace needed to differentiate itself through technology. The company started with 18 employees in a small office and aimed to grow rapidly. The founder, Bobby Harris, recognized the need for a robust transportation management system (TMS) to enable this growth. He chose MercuryGate TMS, which he was familiar with from a previous venture, believing it could provide the necessary functionality and flexibility.
About The Customer
BlueGrace Logistics is a non-asset based third-party logistics (3PL) provider headquartered in Riverview, Florida. Founded in January 2009 by Bobby Harris, the company started with 18 employees in a 2,000-square-foot office. Over the years, BlueGrace has grown significantly and now employs over 600 people across 11 locations in the United States. The company focuses on using technology to differentiate itself in the crowded 3PL market, offering superior supply chain management services and best-in-class technology. BlueGrace manages nearly 3,000 loads per day for more than 10,000 customers and has been recognized as one of the top 3PL providers in the United States.
The Solution
BlueGrace Logistics partnered with MercuryGate to implement a transportation management system (TMS) that would support its growth ambitions. The company created a custom version of the TMS, known as BlueShip, which offers a unique user experience tailored to customer needs. BlueShip integrates with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems and order management systems, providing a seamless experience for customers. The MercuryGate rating engine, a key component of the TMS, allows BlueGrace to efficiently search across carriers, contracts, and lanes to return optimal results. This capability enables BlueGrace to offer quicker and more accurate rates, enhancing customer satisfaction.
