The Challenge
The V Foundation for Cancer Research, a nonprofit organization based in the United States, faced a significant challenge in delivering customized annual letters to its recurring donors. The organization was unable to include custom tables that listed and totaled the annual contributions of these donors. This was a significant issue as these comprehensive year-end statements were highly desired by donors for recordkeeping purposes and for claiming charitable deductions on income tax returns. The existing tools in the Salesforce solution that the V Foundation used did not support this need. Moreover, the organization had a small Donor Services department with only three staffers, making it impractical to manually produce these letters for a large and growing donor base.
About The Customer
The V Foundation for Cancer Research is a nonprofit organization based in the United States. It operates with an unusual funding model, promising donors that 100% of their direct donations will go to cancer research and programs, with no deductions for administrative or overhead costs. These expenses are covered by a separate endowment. The organization was founded by ESPN and legendary basketball coach Jim Valvano in 1993. It has a large and growing donor base and is committed to being attentive to donor concerns as part of its strategy. The V Foundation uses Salesforce for its operations and has a small Donor Services department with only three staffers.
The Solution
To address this challenge, the V Foundation adopted Nintex Drawloop DocGen® for Salesforce. This solution works behind the scenes to automatically populate Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and PDF templates with data from Salesforce and other systems. It eliminates the need for manual creation of business-critical documents, such as donor letters, and allows for the building and sharing of documents with just a few clicks from directly within Salesforce or Office 365. The V Foundation implemented Nintex Drawloop® internally in just a few weeks, with assistance from Nintex Support as needed. To create and send donor letters, the team selects one of 15 custom templates in Word and the particular donor file in Salesforce. The template pulls in donor information from Salesforce, merges fields, and produces a letter and envelope ready for review and mailing.

Predictive Maintenance for Industrial Chillers
For global leaders in the industrial chiller manufacturing, reliability of the entire production process is of the utmost importance. Chillers are refrigeration systems that produce ice water to provide cooling for a process or industrial application. One of those leaders sought a way to respond to asset performance issues, even before they occur. The intelligence to guarantee maximum reliability of cooling devices is embedded (pre-alarming). A pre-alarming phase means that the cooling device still works, but symptoms may appear, telling manufacturers that a failure is likely to occur in the near future. Chillers who are not internet connected at that moment, provide little insight in this pre-alarming phase.
