CABAÏA, a French ready-to-wear accessories brand, was committed to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and environmental sustainability but lacked a clear understanding of its carbon footprint. The company had been experiencing strong growth since its inception in 2015, with a doubling of turnover every year. However, it was aware that in the modern business world, a commitment to the environment and CSR was essential for continued success. The challenge was to accurately measure its carbon footprint to identify areas where it could take concrete action to limit emissions. The traditional methods of CSR assessment were seen as old school, imprecise, and tedious, involving manual review of invoices and other data. CABAÏA needed a more efficient and reliable solution to automate this process.
CABAÏA is a French ready-to-wear accessories brand that has been in operation since 2015. The company creates colourful accessories designed to simplify everyday life and bring a dose of good humour to its customers. CABAÏA has experienced strong growth since its inception, with its turnover consistently doubling every year. The company employs twenty-seven people and is in the process of recruiting more. CABAÏA sells its products through various distribution channels, including its own permanent shops, pop-up stores, independent retailers, and its website. The company is committed to Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and environmental sustainability, viewing these as prerequisites for good business in today's world.
CABAÏA partnered with Greenly to conduct its first complete carbon assessment. Greenly was chosen for its fast approach to automate information, making it easy to match bank accounts, centralize purchases, and produce a reliable carbon footprint quickly. The assessment revealed that the upstream production accounted for the majority of CABAÏA's carbon footprint, while the individual impact of employees at the office was less than 1%. Surprisingly, freight represented a small part of emissions, with the manufacturing process and the carbon emissions of the manufacturing country having a greater impact. Armed with this information, CABAÏA is now focusing on simplifying the production process, repatriating part of it, and mixing know-how in different countries. The company is also raising awareness among employees about reducing emissions, with Greenly providing educational support through newsletters, quizzes, and information on the subject.
