The Challenge
Consolidated Power Project (Pty) Ltd (CONCO), a South African energy company, was facing significant challenges in managing its operations. The company was struggling with manual-laden permission processes and reporting, particularly in areas with unreliable electrical and Internet infrastructure. This was a significant issue as CONCO's work involves designing and installing high-voltage power lines and substations in rural areas, where the danger of electrocution is always present. The company needed to ensure that employees were up-to-date on their certifications, which was a matter of life or death. Furthermore, the company was also dealing with the challenge of managing over 300 tenders a year using file servers and folders. Securing new projects required providing proof of the required certifications for any employees slated to do work, adding to the complexity of the process.
About The Customer
Consolidated Power Project (Pty) Ltd (CONCO) is an energy company based in South Africa. The company specializes in designing and installing high-voltage power lines and substations, particularly in rural areas. This work involves significant risks, including the danger of electrocution, making safety a top priority for the company. In addition to these operational challenges, CONCO also manages over 300 tenders a year, requiring a robust and efficient system for tracking and managing these projects. The company operates in areas with unreliable electrical and Internet infrastructure, adding to the complexity of its operations.
The Solution
To address these challenges, GT Consulting provided a hybrid solution using Nintex Workflow, Nintex Forms and Nintex Mobile on Microsoft SharePoint 2013 and Office 365 platforms. This solution was chosen due to its ease of use, visual interface, and high value. The solution was deployed on-premises and through Nintex Mobile to cater to areas with limited connectivity. GT Consulting helped CONCO rebuild project forms with Nintex Forms that automatically generate metadata, enabling CONCO’s staff to easily search the more than 300 current tenders and hundreds of past projects. To encourage employee adoption of the new system, CONCO introduced a lunch ordering system through SharePoint. Employees were given a lunch allowance and the ability to have their orders automatically deducted from their paychecks, but they had to order it through SharePoint. This strategy was successful in getting employees to use the new system.

In 2010, Ontario’s energy board mandated that time-of-use (TOU) pricing for consumers be available for all consumers on a regulated price plan.
