Wilkin Chapman LLP is the largest law firm in Lincolnshire and the East Riding of Yorkshire, UK. As a full-service law firm, Wilkin Chapman provides legal services for both businesses and individuals. The firm's reputation is a critical asset, and any damage to it, such as a highly publicized data breach, could have an adverse impact on the firm. The firm's challenge was to keep up with the evolving threat landscape, especially with limited resources to appoint a dedicated cybersecurity expert. The firm also aimed to promote a security-conscious culture to support its remote working strategy.
The Solution
To address these challenges, Wilkin Chapman implemented Check Point's Next Generation Threat Prevention & SandBlast (NGTX) with Check Point R80.10 Security Management. The solution was implemented and managed by SJG Digital, a Check Point partner and IT security specialist. This ensured uniform technology across all devices at each Wilkin Chapman location. NGTX provided a significant performance increase using a range of threat prevention techniques, including detecting malware before it enters the network and converting content to a safe format before it is opened. Check Point SmartEvent provided fully integrated threat visibility in R80.10, offering real-time security insights across the entire firm and simplifying the management of cybersecurity across multiple devices and branch locations. The firm also plans to introduce mobile and endpoint protection as part of its future security roadmap.

  • The implementation of the Check Point solution has had a significant impact on Wilkin Chapman's security culture. Staff are now better educated and more aware of the complexity and regularity of cyber threats and what they can do to protect themselves and the firm, reducing the firm's exposure to potential threats. With R80.10 Security Management, the firm enjoys granular insight into cyber threats, allowing them to manage the firm's growing cybersecurity needs effectively. Policies and rules can be introduced and rolled out firm-wide using the R80.10 management console. SandBlast's threat emulation and extraction features ensure that every email attachment is automatically cleaned and reconstructed, ensuring complete network security with minimal involvement from the IT team. The firm plans to continue adapting and strengthening its security posture and protection capabilities in the face of the constantly changing cybersecurity landscape.
