The Challenge
Fraser and Neave, Limited (F&N), a leading Asia Pacific Consumer Group, faced significant challenges in managing its IT infrastructure across multiple global offices. The central IT team was small and struggled to manage appliances across these offices. The company also lacked the ability to control its increasingly mobile workforce, which included employees working remotely on laptops and mobile devices. The use of appliance-based centralized solutions was limited, and the growing adoption of cloud applications necessitated better control over web access across all locations and users, irrespective of their location. Additionally, the company faced network bottlenecks due to backhauling traffic to the central office, which was a waste of network bandwidth.
About The Customer
Fraser and Neave, Limited (F&N) is a leading Asia Pacific Consumer Group with expertise in the Food & Beverage, Property, and Publishing & Printing industries. Founded in 1883, F&N has a presence in over 20 countries spanning Asia Pacific, Europe, and the USA, and employs over 10,000 people worldwide. The company's global offices are managed by a central IT team. F&N's workforce is increasingly mobile, with many employees working remotely on laptops and mobile devices. The company is also adopting cloud applications at a growing rate.
The Solution
F&N sought a solution that was easy to manage centrally and would not require backhauling traffic to the central office. After considering various appliance and cloud-based options, the company chose Zscaler's cloud-based web proxy solution. Zscaler's wide geographical coverage, real-time reporting, and ability to address F&N's SLA and confidentiality concerns made it the clear winner. The Zscaler solution provided F&N's IT team with access to real-time reporting across all its locations and remote users, with the ability to drill down into web logs and the associated device and user information. This enabled the IT department to gain immediate insight into employee productivity, website performance, and excess bandwidth use, and take quick corrective action when required. The cloud-based model also eliminated backhauling, freeing up valuable network bandwidth.

HEINEKEN Uses the Cloud to Reach 10.5 Million Consumers
For 2012 campaign, the Bond promotion, it planned to launch the campaign at the same time everywhere on the planet. That created unprecedented challenges for HEINEKEN—nowhere more so than in its technology operation. The primary digital content for the campaign was a 100-megabyte movie that had to play flawlessly for millions of viewers worldwide. After all, Bond never fails. No one was going to tolerate a technology failure that might bruise his brand.Previously, HEINEKEN had supported digital media at its outsourced datacenter. But that datacenter lacked the computing resources HEINEKEN needed, and building them—especially to support peak traffic that would total millions of simultaneous hits—would have been both time-consuming and expensive. Nor would it have provided the geographic reach that HEINEKEN needed to minimize latency worldwide.
