GWG Equipment Maintenance System for Automotive Manufacturers

GWG Equipment Maintenance System for Automotive Manufacturers - IoT ONE Case Study
Technology Category
  • Functional Applications - Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
Applicable Industries
  • Automotive
Applicable Functions
  • Maintenance
Use Cases
  • Predictive Maintenance
The Challenge

Manufacturers require a centralised view on all its equipment and assets in order to enable capabilities such as RCM and TCM to maximise uptime and productivity. There is potential along the manufacturing process to reduce inventory redundancies, wastage in areas of MRO, and maximise utility of the different skill-sets among engineers, all of which are factors directly affecting the OEE of the manufacturing process.

About The Customer
Major vehicle producers, implemented for all factories and R&D centers to handle all equipment and test tools. More than 800 engineers on the system are integrated using SAP
The Solution

The GWG Equipment Maintenance System (hereinafter referred to as GWG) provides a full range of maintenance process support to enable capabilities such as Total Productive Maintenance(TPM), Total Life Cycle Management, and Failure Mode and Effect Analysis(FMEA). GWG focuses on plant maintenance & equipment operating status management, providing generic information on functional location, equipment, parts, FMEA records, etc. GWG is designed to integrate various maintenance processes and is able to support business analysis functions on its database. GWG supports Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) on equipment management & plant maintenance, enabling Lean Manufacturing in the organisation. The consultancy service helps to improve their equipment performance towards achieving zero accidents, zero downtime, zero speed loss, and zero scrapes. GWG fundamentally integrates with machine measuring tools to record all failures, incidents, instances of maintenance, status checks, and other related information on time. GWG can be deployed either locally in a centralised system or as a SAAS tool.

Data Collected
Asset Utilization, Inventory Levels, Maintenance Requirements, Overall Equipment Effectiveness, Product Lifecycle
Operational Impact
  • [Management Effectiveness - Internal Collaboration]
Ensure high service level from MRO team from knowledge sharing and analysis
  • [Cost Reduction - Inventory Management]
Extension of equipment lifecycle and usage of alternative equipment to reduce cost from utilisation of MRO inventory
  • [Efficiency Improvement - Maintenance]
Increase in OEE and capabilities in reliability-centred maintenance (RCM)
Quantitative Benefit
  • 30% increase in OEE capability

  • 50% reduction in investment for software purchase

  • 30% reduction in spare parts inventory
