The Challenge
VESI IT Services, the internal IT service provider of VINCI Energies in Germany, was struggling to keep pace with the rapid growth of the company. The demand ranged from simple infrastructure to complex system solutions. The major challenge was to simplify the rollout of new technologies, speed up digital transformation, save energy, and distribute services and controls closer to customers, employees, partners, and ecosystems. The VESI IT Services team in Germany was tasked with consolidating five data centers into a single service offering. The initial situation ranged through all of the IT evolutionary spectrum, from physical servers to public cloud services. In addition, the solution needed to be secure, protecting sensitive data related to people, processes, and IT systems.

About The Customer
VESI IT Services is the internal IT service provider of VINCI Energies in Germany. VINCI Energies is an international network of companies that designs, finances, builds, and operates infrastructure and facilities for cities, industry applications, and the energy sector worldwide. The teams at VESI IT Services ensure that the group has the support it needs to deliver the professional service they stand for. However, VINCI was struggling to keep pace with rapid growth, with its demand ranging from simple infrastructure to complex system solutions.
The Solution
Axians, a member of the VINCI Energies family that specializes in information and communication technology (ICT), analyzed VESI’s needs and designed a hybrid multicloud solution. They built a digital edge alongside the largest industry ecosystems on Platform Equinix. Instead of five data centers, VESI now has one low-latency, high-speed network optimized to serve a growing business. With colocation in three International Business Exchange™ (IBX®) data centers in Frankfurt (FR2, FR4, and FR5), VESI has gained reliability, security, and redundancy for business continuity and disaster recovery. Using Equinix Cloud Exchange Fabric™ (ECX Fabric™), it can directly, securely, and dynamically connect distributed infrastructure and digital ecosystems on Platform Equinix via software-defined interconnection across more than 50 metros on five continents. In addition, Equinix Connect at each of the three IBX data centers provides VESI a Layer 3 solution for out-of-band management and reduces latency.
