The Challenge
Hyundai AutoEver, a key player in supporting Hyundai Motor Group’s IT initiatives, was faced with the challenge of modernizing their applications and technology to provide personalized digital experiences for drivers. With over four million Hyundai vehicles connected to the cloud, a number expected to increase annually, the company needed to strengthen their expertise in embedded automotive software to bridge the gap between the car and mobility ecosystems. A specific example of this was their Bluelink® mobile app, a luxurious, connected car service offering various features such as remote start, door lock and unlock, on-demand diagnostics and alerts, destination search, and remote car finder.

About The Customer
Hyundai AutoEver is a technology company that drives Hyundai Motor Group toward its goal of becoming a worldwide, leading mobility company. They play a crucial role in supporting Hyundai Motor Group’s IT initiatives, working closely to accelerate the pace of innovation and strengthen the expertise in embedded automotive software. The company aims to provide high-quality, personalized digital experiences for drivers by enhancing the software continuously. They are responsible for the development and modernization of various applications and technologies, including the Bluelink® mobile app, a luxurious, connected car service.
The Solution
To overcome these challenges, Hyundai AutoEver partnered with VMware Tanzu Labs. The engineers from both companies worked together to learn about cloud native technology and how it could enhance the developer experience. They established a domain-driven design to create common models, simplifying the development process. Tanzu Labs, known for accelerating the delivery of software and modernizing legacy applications, helped Hyundai AutoEver to build a cloud native platform that enhanced the developer’s experience. This allowed their developers to focus on applications and getting new features into the hands of Hyundai customers. The application team at Hyundai AutoEver can now easily deploy containerized and scaled applications, monitoring all by self-service. They have also been able to reduce their delivery time from 14 days to fewer than three, deploying new features at any time of day with zero downtime by updating individual microservices independently.

Integral Plant Maintenance
Mercedes-Benz and his partner GAZ chose Siemens to be its maintenance partner at a new engine plant in Yaroslavl, Russia. The new plant offers a capacity to manufacture diesel engines for the Russian market, for locally produced Sprinter Classic. In addition to engines for the local market, the Yaroslavl plant will also produce spare parts. Mercedes-Benz Russia and his partner needed a service partner in order to ensure the operation of these lines in a maintenance partnership arrangement. The challenges included coordinating the entire maintenance management operation, in particular inspections, corrective and predictive maintenance activities, and the optimizing spare parts management. Siemens developed a customized maintenance solution that includes all electronic and mechanical maintenance activities (Integral Plant Maintenance).
