The Challenge
Leonix faced significant challenges with data replication between sites due to its old legacy network switches and storage equipment. The existing infrastructure exhibited unacceptable levels of latency and throughput constraints, which became problematic as traffic volumes and the number of virtual machines grew. With an expected annual growth of around 30%, Leonix needed a new network and storage architecture to ensure service availability and scalability. The company approached several solution providers and technology vendors to find a reliable and scalable solution that could grow with their business.
About The Customer
Leonix is a French-based telecom operator established in 2004, aiming to provide premium services by integrating innovative communication control technology with dedicated optical fibre connectivity. The company offers highly flexible network and IP telephony solutions with unquestionable reliability. Since its launch, Leonix has become a pioneer in deploying software-based PABX technology and extended features at an enticing price point. This strategy has proven successful, with an average of 30% annual growth over the last decade, covering 1200 successful installations and over 10,000 users. Leonix's clients include notable names like Le Figaro, Mitsubishi Electric, and Elior, requiring 24/7 telephone and network availability.
The Solution
Leonix approached several suppliers, including HP, Cisco, and Brocade, and local multi-vendor specialist partners. They needed a solution that was cost-effective, high-performing, and scalable. Alyseo, an ICT services provider, was brought in due to their extensive experience in telecommunication environments. Alyseo recommended a solution built around Arista switches and Coraid EtherDrive storage. Arista switches offered low latency and high throughput, while Coraid EtherDrive provided low latency, high bandwidth data transfer using a thin protocol layer directly on top of Ethernet. The solution was tested in a simulated environment to ensure it met the expected results. The new network infrastructure and storage were then implemented seamlessly, reducing latency by 65% and providing enough headroom for future growth.

Vodafone Hosted On AWS
Vodafone found that traffic for the applications peak during the four-month period when the international cricket season is at its height in Australia. During the 2011/2012 cricket season, 700,000 consumers downloaded the Cricket Live Australia application. Vodafone needed to be able to meet customer demand, but didn’t want to invest in additional resources that would be underutilized during cricket’s off-season.
