The Challenge
du, a rapidly growing communications provider in the United Arab Emirates, faced a significant challenge in protecting its network resources and client data from unauthorized access. With a largely outsourced workforce, the company needed an efficient way to enhance the user experience, boost productivity, and help reduce fraud. The process of granting new users access was time-consuming, taking up to two weeks, and integrating a new application into the Identity and Access Management (IAM) platform could take up to three months. Additionally, the company was dealing with a high volume of help desk tickets related to access management.

With over 230 product offerings, du serves a large customer base of 6.5 million mobile customers. The company has more than 2,000 employees, 8,000 contractors, and around 3,000 field sales personnel. With annual revenues exceeding AED 10 billion, du is a major player in the telecommunications industry in the UAE.
The Solution
To address these challenges, du implemented IBM's Security Services - Identity and Access Management (IAM). This automated, centralized IAM platform provides end-to-end control over user access to both operations and business resources, as well as broad visibility into user behavior. The platform includes a self-service portal for onboarding users, which captures identity data and standardizes management workflow for rapid approvals. This solution has significantly streamlined the process of granting new users access and integrating new applications into the IAM platform.
