MrBug, a pest control service startup, was faced with the challenge of creating a minimum viable product (MVP) without an engineering and development background. The founder, Miguel Domínguez, wanted to validate the creation of a pure MVP and reduce development times. The challenge was to build a seamless online experience for their clients to handle real-world pest problems without having to code everything from scratch. This was a significant hurdle as coding can be time-consuming, expensive, and requires specialized skills.
MrBug is a pest control service startup operating in Spain. The company pairs pest control and technology, partnering with leaders in Spain's pest industry to provide service across the country. They utilize scheduling apps, team chat tools, customer relationship managers (CRM), and online payment processors to provide clients with a seamless online experience for their real world pest problems. The company is committed to continuous learning and evolution, and sends out a request for feedback after each appointment to improve their services.
To overcome the challenge, MrBug decided to leverage Software as a Service (SaaS) products that fit their needs. They used the app automation tool, Zapier, as their backend. Zapier allowed MrBug to connect various handpicked apps to each other in automated workflows, known as Zaps. These Zaps automated various processes such as feedback requests, payment processing, and scheduling appointments. For instance, they paired Acuity Scheduling with Slack to handle appointments and keep their team updated. They used Stripe for handling payments, and Google Sheets for building a payment database and collecting feedback. This innovative approach allowed MrBug to launch their MVP in just three weeks.
