The Challenge
JAAS Systems, a global supplier of manufacturing software, was looking to transition their Advanced Manufacturing Software (JAMS) from a client-server architecture to a web-based solution. The company believed that a web-based solution would be easier to deploy, reduce their clients' costs, and provide more flexible integration with modern cloud-based accounting systems. However, JAAS was concerned about the challenges of moving years of manufacturing expertise to a web-based environment and building complex accounting and inventory functions in a cloud environment.
About The Customer
JAAS Systems is a global supplier of manufacturing software based in Columbus, Ohio, USA. The company serves more than 200 customers worldwide. Founded in 1999, JAAS Systems develops and sells integrated accounting and manufacturing software solutions, primarily for the discrete manufacturing arena, such as electronics. The company's flagship product is the JAAS Advanced Manufacturing Software (JAMS), which helps mid-sized manufacturing companies streamline their production and accounting processes.
The Solution
JAAS Systems decided to develop JAMS for the Acumatica Cloud xRP Platform, which they began in late 2010 and released the first version in 2011. The Acumatica Cloud xRP Platform provided a development platform that addressed JAAS Systems' desire to improve speed-to-market and keep client’s cost down. The platform offered built-in ERP logic, including accounting and inventory, solutions that run on any platform, in any browser, and solutions which can be delivered on-premise or as SaaS. It also provided built-in document management, inquiries, report writers, and workflow.
Operational Impact
  • The Acumatica Cloud xRP Platform provided a range of time-saving tools for JAMS developers, including separation of logic, generating schemas, auto-numbering, screen wizards, customizing mode, attachment handling, inquiries builder, dashboards, and batch processing.
  • The platform's capabilities allowed JAAS Systems to improve their speed-to-market.
  • The successful integration of JAMS with Acumatica has led JAAS Systems to recommend the platform to other software vendors.
Quantitative Benefit
  • $400,000 in development cost savings
  • 52 months of development time-savings
  • Delivered solution two years ahead of schedule
