The Challenge

The client, a leading global provider of integrated connectivity solutions for public transport, wanted to expand their services by creating a web-based CCTV solution for transport surveillance. This was aimed at giving them a competitive edge over rivals who mostly used desktop or hybrid solutions. However, the client faced challenges in validating the feasibility, budget, and timelines of the project. They needed to define these aspects for the existing infrastructure before proceeding with the development of the web-based CCTV solution.

About The Customer

The client is a leading global provider of integrated connectivity solutions for public transport. Their multi-model connectivity platform is used by millions of passengers and thousands of vehicles daily, providing a wide range of applications such as Wi-Fi, onboard entertainment, remote transport monitoring, streaming video surveillance, and more. The client sought to expand their services and gain a competitive edge by developing a web-based CCTV solution for transport surveillance.

The Solution

N-iX Solution Group conducted a Product Discovery phase to validate the client's idea and provide a project roadmap with cost and time estimates. They created a Proof of Concept (PoC) to prove the feasibility of the client’s idea and ensure its successful delivery. The team developed the web-based CCTV solution from scratch using a microservices-based architecture. Key features of the solution included the ability to manually stop and start video and audio feeds, configure a video wall of up to 20 videos, open specific video streams in another tab, select and download parts of a video, and acquire information about the transport’s location. The team also designed the solution’s UI/UX using the client’s framework with UI components, considering the pain points and needs of the client’s customers.

Operational Impact
  • The client was able to validate their product idea and received a project roadmap with cost and time estimates. The solution architecture was designed and the conceptual design of core features was created. The web-based CCTV solution was developed from scratch and has been continuously improved and enhanced. The client was able to get ahead of the competition by offering a unique web-based CCTV solution. The solution's UI/UX design, which considered the pain points and needs of the client’s customers, ensured high customer satisfaction and retention.

Quantitative Benefit
  • The client received a clear vision, roadmap, time and cost estimates of their project idea, allowing them to move on to implementation.

  • The client obtained a working web-based CCTV solution, enabling them to get ahead of the competition.

  • The client ensured high customer satisfaction and retention by establishing excellent user experience with a UI/UX design that considered common user needs and pain points.
