Amazon Web Services has developed the managed cloud platform AWS IoT to let connected devices easily and securely interact with cloud applications and other devices. AWS IoT can support billions of devices and trillions of messages, and can process and route those messages to AWS Endpoints and to other devices reliably and securely. With AWS IoT, your applications can keep track of and communicate with all your devices, all the time, even when they aren’t connected.

AWS IoT can support billions of devices and trillions of messages, and can process and route those messages to AWS Endpoints and to other devices reliably and securely. With AWS IoT, companies' applications can keep track of and communicate with all their devices, all the time, even when they aren’t connected. The AWS IoT Device Gateway enables devices to securely and efficiently communicate with AWS IoT. The Device Gateway can exchange messages using a publication/subscription model, which enables one-to-one and one-to-many communications. With this one-to-many communication pattern AWS IoT makes it possible for a connected device to broadcast data to multiple subscribers for a given topic. The Device Gateway supports MQTT and HTTP 1.1 protocols and you can easily implement support for proprietary or legacy protocols. The Device Gateway scales automatically to support over a billion devices without provisioning infrastructure.
