挑战
The telecommunications service provider market is not only saturated with offers, but also experiencing a sharp increase in the number of users with data plans, which has led to an increase in network traffic. Due to this rapid growth and escalating demand, it is becoming increasingly difficult for service providers to plan and scale network infrastructures to accommodate steady increases in data traffic. In such a competitive market, companies need to constantly improve the quality of services offered to their customers, and they are always looking for ways to optimize their offerings. Many telecommunication service providers are adopting performance management technology to better monitor, measure, and assess the performance of critical IT resources. Other providers look to big data and predictive analytics to troubleshoot incidents and events in the data center. This is all part of a steady shift from a reactive to a proactive performance management model, as service providers work to ensure greater uptime, and thus, more exceptional experiences for their customers.

解决方案
Altice Labs decided to equip its Altaia platform with a reporting engine capable of addressing analytical needs and performance appraisals. The solution had to be flexible and easy to integrate with other systems. After evaluating several market-leading products, Altice selected the WebFOCUS business intelligence (BI) and analytics platform from Information Builders. The evaluation team found WebFOCUS easy to use, easy to configure, and easy to integrate, and favored its flexible development environment. Altice Labs embedded a WebFOCUS analytics environment within the Altaia platform, improving the user experience and increasing the quality of service that telecommunications service providers offer to their customers. The new environment features data visualization technology to spread reporting, analytics, and BI throughout these organizations, resulting in a marked improvement in Altaia’s usability and image. WebFOCUS gave Altice Labs the freedom to develop new applications for database analysis, including dashboards, and performance cockpits that can be adapted to the diverse environments of each service provider.

Vodafone Hosted On AWS
Vodafone found that traffic for the applications peak during the four-month period when the international cricket season is at its height in Australia. During the 2011/2012 cricket season, 700,000 consumers downloaded the Cricket Live Australia application. Vodafone needed to be able to meet customer demand, but didn’t want to invest in additional resources that would be underutilized during cricket’s off-season.
