The Challenge
CSR Limited, a leading building products company in Australia and New Zealand, was faced with the challenge of upgrading its IT security system. The existing legacy tools were ageing and could no longer provide the level of protection the company required. The company needed to upgrade its entire perimeter security, including firewalls, replace an ageing on-premise content filtering system and a Threat Management Gateway. Additionally, CSR had to manage a new breed of web-based security threats while allowing users to access an increasing number of cloud-based applications seamlessly and securely. The company also began aligning itself with the ISO 27001 security standard.
About The Customer
CSR Limited is a leading building products company in Australia and New Zealand. The company is behind some of the most trusted and recognised building products for the construction of homes and commercial buildings in these regions. CSR operates at nearly 200 sites and employs around 4000 people. The company was faced with the challenge of upgrading its ageing IT security system and managing new web-based security threats while allowing seamless and secure access to cloud-based applications for its users.
The Solution
After a comprehensive review of potential security solutions, CSR decided to adopt Zscaler to monitor and manage all internet traffic across the company. The Zscaler Web Premium Suite, Advanced Web Behavioural Analysis and Dedicated Proxy Port were chosen. The fact that Zscaler is a pure-play cloud vendor was a significant factor in the decision, as it could remove some of the complexity and management overheads. CSR was also impressed by Zscaler’s advanced malware detection capabilities, which would allow improved protection for staff who were making increasing use of web-based applications and data services. Zscaler's cloud-based solution also provided an improved ability for analysis of potential threats before any attachments or code is allowed into the corporate network.
