The Challenge
The National September 11 Memorial Museum, located at the World Trade Center site, is a significant institution documenting the events of September 11, 2001. The museum relies on numerous operation systems for its functioning, and the IT staff needed a robust and secure remote support solution to ensure 100 percent uptime for these systems. The team of technicians in the Memorial’s IT department work in a virtual environment and knew it was necessary to deploy a remote support solution that enabled them to meet the demanding requirement of constant uptime while ensuring security.
About The Customer
The National September 11 Memorial Museum is a significant institution in the United States, dedicated to documenting and exploring the events and impact of September 11, 2001. The museum is currently under construction and will be located within the archaeological heart of the World Trade Center site. The museum will feature 110,000 square feet of exhibition space, telling the story of 9/11 through multimedia displays, archives, narratives, and a collection of monumental and authentic artifacts. The museum relies heavily on numerous operation systems for its functioning, and its IT staff is tasked with ensuring the constant uptime and security of these systems.
The Solution
The Memorial’s IT department deployed Bomgar’s Embassy feature, a remote support solution that ensures secure and limited access for the dozens of vendors supporting the Memorial’s many operation systems. With Embassy, the Memorial’s IT team can establish accounts for each of the vendors and manage the settings and permissions to manage access within the Memorial’s network to the vendor’s system alone. Embassy also makes it possible to restrict the activities that can be performed. The solution also includes a recording feature that adds to the security of the environment. The Memorial’s free ticketing system supplier can easily access the system through Embassy, eliminating the need for multiple steps to establish a connection to the Memorial’s VPN and then remote from machine to machine to service them.
Operational Impact
  • The deployment of Bomgar’s Embassy feature has enabled the Memorial’s IT team to manage and control vendor access to the Memorial’s network, ensuring the security and constant uptime of the operation systems.
  • The solution’s recording feature allows the IT team to monitor vendor activities, enhancing the security of the environment and serving as a learning tool for the technicians.
  • The solution has also simplified the process for the Memorial’s free ticketing system supplier, providing easy and immediate access required for 24/7 support.
