The Challenge
One of Plan2Transport’s customers, a major international food and beverage company, required real-time tracking data for its over-the-road shipments to accurately track products across the supply chain and know exactly when they would arrive at their destination. The customer requested that Plan2Transport leverage FourKites, the world’s leading supply chain visibility platform. The group was under tight time constraints to get up and running with the platform, and was pleased with the carrier onboarding they were able to achieve right away. Early on, van der Heijden’s top potential concerns with FourKites pertained to data privacy and security. Transport firms are often skeptical when a company like FourKites says it can bring visibility, as they are hesitant to share their data. However, the customer insisted on it, and providing superior service is a key value for Plan2Transport.
About The Customer
Plan2Transport is a leading provider of freight transportation and logistics services based in the Netherlands. Specializing in full truckload (FTL), the company moves 30,000 loads per year from warehouses located largely in the Netherlands and Belgium to distribution centers belonging to major supermarkets like Albert Heijn or Jumbo. Many of these distribution centers are located throughout the Netherlands, Germany, and Belgium. Plan2Transport operates 50 trucks moving six days a week for its customers. The company is part of a cooperative that includes Int. Transportbedrijf Van der Heijden, which played a key role in implementing the FourKites platform.
The Solution
Plan2Transport implemented FourKites, the world’s leading supply chain visibility platform, to provide real-time tracking data for its shipments. Roy van der Heijden, Business Analyst at Int. Transportbedrijf Van der Heijden, was tasked with setting up FourKites across the Plan2Transport business ecosystem. The team was able to achieve carrier onboarding quickly, allowing the customer to access detailed, real-time shipment information, load status, and predictive arrival times. Individual carriers could integrate their existing GPS tracking technology directly with FourKites’ carrier connectivity platform, making it easier and more affordable to set up and use the real-time visibility software. Through FourKites, Plan2Transport is now able to send data directly and securely to its customers about each shipment in transit. This allows customers to streamline their workflows, collaborate with transportation partners, and keep shelves full during difficult times. By leveraging FourKites, Plan2Transport can help its retail customers ensure they always have the right amount of product when they need it.

Airport SCADA Systems Improve Service Levels
Modern airports are one of the busiest environments on Earth and rely on process automation equipment to ensure service operators achieve their KPIs. Increasingly airport SCADA systems are being used to control all aspects of the operation and associated facilities. This is because unplanned system downtime can cost dearly, both in terms of reduced revenues and the associated loss of customer satisfaction due to inevitable travel inconvenience and disruption.

HEINEKEN Uses the Cloud to Reach 10.5 Million Consumers
For 2012 campaign, the Bond promotion, it planned to launch the campaign at the same time everywhere on the planet. That created unprecedented challenges for HEINEKEN—nowhere more so than in its technology operation. The primary digital content for the campaign was a 100-megabyte movie that had to play flawlessly for millions of viewers worldwide. After all, Bond never fails. No one was going to tolerate a technology failure that might bruise his brand.Previously, HEINEKEN had supported digital media at its outsourced datacenter. But that datacenter lacked the computing resources HEINEKEN needed, and building them—especially to support peak traffic that would total millions of simultaneous hits—would have been both time-consuming and expensive. Nor would it have provided the geographic reach that HEINEKEN needed to minimize latency worldwide.
