The Challenge
Krone, one of Europe's largest trailer manufacturers, was facing a growing demand for trailers with built-in Estimated Time of Arrival (ETA) prediction capabilities. This was driven by the evolving digital requirements of shippers who were increasingly expecting more smart features to be integrated into their products. The company, which generates €1.9 billion in sales annually and employs over 5,300 workers, wanted to add more world-class connected services to their portfolio. This strategy was aimed at better serving the needs of their customers in 15 key markets throughout Europe and achieving their mission to offer the most complete connected trailer service within the Logistics 4.0 world.
About The Customer
Krone is a leading trailer manufacturer in Europe, with annual sales of €1.9 billion. The company employs over 5,300 workers and operates in 15 key markets across the continent. Krone's customers are primarily shippers who are increasingly expecting more smart features to be integrated into their trailers. These customers are driving the demand for trailers with built-in ETA prediction capabilities, which would enable them to manage transportation more effectively. By meeting these evolving digital requirements, Krone aims to better serve its customers and achieve its mission of offering the most complete connected trailer service within the Logistics 4.0 world.
The Solution
In response to this challenge, Krone embarked on a global strategic partnership with Shippeo, a leading provider of real-time visibility solutions. The partnership aimed to integrate Shippeo's real-time data services into Krone's own telematics solution, marking a significant step towards Krone's ambition of leading the market with a new trailer-as-a-service (TaaS) business model. The collaboration resulted in Krone becoming the first trailer manufacturer to provide real-time ETA predictions within their own trailer management solution, Krone Telematics. This service, powered by Shippeo’s proprietary machine learning algorithm that references over 200 data parameters, is now the most accurate and reliable ETA service for shipments and deliveries on the market. Looking ahead, Krone plans to continue collaborating with Shippeo to incorporate more automation, digitization, and artificial intelligence into trailer transport processes.

Airport SCADA Systems Improve Service Levels
Modern airports are one of the busiest environments on Earth and rely on process automation equipment to ensure service operators achieve their KPIs. Increasingly airport SCADA systems are being used to control all aspects of the operation and associated facilities. This is because unplanned system downtime can cost dearly, both in terms of reduced revenues and the associated loss of customer satisfaction due to inevitable travel inconvenience and disruption.
