The Challenge
In 2018, NewAir decided to review their homegrown system and focus on gaining better inventory visibility, as well as the departmental visibility that comes with integrating one Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) solution. NetSuite was chosen as their ERP, and NewAir went live in February 2019. As part of the project, several SuiteApp solutions were evaluated to provide a warehouse barcoding solution to make inventory more accurate. NewAir wanted to replace their previous systems, which relied heavily on the tribal knowledge of the warehouse staff and a dependence on excel spreadsheets. NewAir selected a WMS, but it was soon discovered after going live that the solution would require far more customization and expensive development to make the product work. The WMS functionality frustrated the warehouse staff because the orders were slow to get out the door. Additionally, NewAir felt they were not receiving the support they needed. The main issue was that every time they needed more information, they would be told they needed more training, which would be costly.
About The Customer
NewAir is a thriving business that manufactures, repairs, and distributes a large range of small household appliances. From beer and wine fridges to humidors and portable cooling and heating products, NewAir products are carried by the largest retailers in North America such as Target, Walmart, Home Depot, and Lowes. Dedicated to exceptional customer service from their responsive North American in-house call center, NewAir is housed in a large warehouse facility that has over 100+ SKU’s. NewAir not only drop ships product directly from orders placed via eCommerce sales platforms, but also drives B2B transactions with appliance wholesalers, and processes sales orders directly via their own website.
The Solution
NewAir decided to revisit the SuiteApp options to get their inventory and warehouse processes better integrated with NetSuite. They received two positive reviews from companies using RF-SMART and chose it to replace the incumbent solution. The difference was immediately evident when the RF-SMART project manager came onsite to walk through the warehouse to fully understand the processes in place. This hands-on approach helped NewAir understand their options and empowered them with the knowledge to manage the system themselves. Training was found to be easy, and the warehouse staff quickly adapted to the change. Management has open access to each module of RF-SMART and can request further functionality.
Operational Impact
  • RF-SMART helps NewAir keep track of inventory in a more efficient manner, keeping everything in order and organized in the warehouse.
  • The warehouse no longer has product all over the place; everything has a location.
  • NewAir now completes daily cycle counts, which alerts the team of any inaccuracies within a bin or location quickly.
Quantitative Benefit
  • NewAir eliminated the need for expensive customizations by switching to RF-SMART.
  • The audit process was significantly smoother, with auditors able to find products and know quantities easily.
