The Challenge
OpenStore, a brand aggregator founded in March 2021, faced the challenge of managing procurement for over 40 brands. The company's mission was to identify, value, acquire, and scale long-tail e-commerce brands, offering liquidity to entrepreneurs who had grown these brands to their first six to seven figures in annual sales. The operations team, initially consisting of just two people, was tasked with managing all aspects of supply chain, fulfillment, demand planning, and product development. With an ambitious objective to grow to hundreds of brands as soon as possible, OpenStore needed to find a way to streamline operations and incorporate hundreds of unique supply chain management processes into a standardized, repeatable practice that could run with minimal manpower.

OpenStore is a brand aggregator based in Miami, Florida. Founded in March 2021, the company's mission is to identify, value, acquire, and scale long-tail e-commerce brands, providing liquidity to the entrepreneurs who had grown those brands to their first six to seven figures in annual sales. OpenStore aims to grow to hundreds of brands as soon as possible, and to achieve this, they needed to streamline operations and incorporate unique supply chain management processes into a standardized, repeatable practice. The Solution
To standardize and scale their supply chain operations, OpenStore turned to Anvyl. Anvyl's solution allowed OpenStore to integrate dozens of supply chain processes into one cross-portfolio operation. OpenStore designed a resilient and scalable tech stack using Anvyl partners Netsuite ERP and Flieber for resource planning and demand planning, respectively, with Anvyl integrated in both directions. This tech stack enabled the team to manage everything from forecasting to purchase orders (POs) to reconciliation. Anvyl was used to manage the order and supplier collaboration phase of their supply chain, tracking and cataloging the journey from creation to delivery, including all specifics of cash in and cash out. Crucially, Anvyl made it easy for new brands to be integrated into the team’s process without necessitating hiring for manual work. The merchant integrations team introduced each new brand to Anvyl as quickly as possible, streamlining the process of reporting on the supply chains of 40+ brands.

As of 2014, AK-Centralen has over 1,500 Danish supermarkets equipped, and utilizes 16 operators, and is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. AK-Centralen needed the ability to monitor the cooling alarms from around the country, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Each and every time the door to a milk cooler or a freezer does not close properly, an alarm goes off on a computer screen in a control building in southwestern Odense. This type of alarm will go off approximately 140,000 times per year, equating to roughly 400 alarms in a 24-hour period. Should an alarm go off, then there is only a limited amount of time to act before dairy products or frozen pizza must be disposed of, and this type of waste can quickly start to cost a supermarket a great deal of money.

The client had previously deployed a one-meter-per-store monitoring program. Given the manner in which energy consumption changes with external temperature, hour of the day, day of week and month of year, a single meter solution lacked the ability to detect the difference between a true problem and a changing store environment. Most importantly, a single meter solution could never identify root cause of energy consumption changes. This approach never reduced the number of truck-rolls or man-hours required to find and resolve issues.
