The Challenge
Meerlanden faced several challenges, including the need to work in an environmentally responsible manner, adapt to constantly changing demands, and improve their billing system. Their old billing system was slow, costly in terms of human resources, and prone to errors, leading to complaints and the need for credit invoices. These issues wasted valuable time for both Meerlanden and their clients. The primary driver for adopting a new solution was to eliminate errors and save time.
About The Customer
Meerlanden is an innovative waste collector and processor that has evolved from a traditional waste collection company. They also manage public spaces for municipalities and focus on valuing waste streams by using them as raw materials, contributing to a cleaner environment. Over the past few years, Meerlanden has innovated significantly, including the construction of a fermentation plant in 2011 that converts GFT waste into biogas, which is then upgraded to green gas. This innovation marks the first step in creating a regional circular economy.
The Solution
Meerlanden adopted the Mobile Order Management App by AMCS to fully automate the administrative process of bin collection, from agreement to billing, in a paperless manner. Drivers are equipped with tablets that provide a constant link with planners, allowing for real-time streaming of tasks and orders. The app's map feature displays orders digitally for the driver, who can choose the most efficient route and perform unplanned tasks instantly. Clients can approve billing directly on the tablet, eliminating errors and saving time. The app also integrates with AMCS back-office software, enhancing overall efficiency.
Operational Impact
  • The billing process is now substantially faster, leading to better-informed clients and fewer complaints.
  • Drivers are empowered to act as the company's eyes and ears in the market, using cameras to show obstacles or issues on-site, which helps in better serving clients.
  • The app provides real-time handling of orders, container registration, time registration of vehicle personnel, and mileage, all digitally.
Quantitative Benefit
  • Low investment (TCO) compared to traditional on-board computers, with an ROI of less than 6 months.
  • Reduction in administrative procedures and errors.
  • Multilingual support (NL, GB, FR, ES, PL, DE).
