The Challenge
Purity Life Health Products LP, a leading distributor of natural health products in Canada, was facing challenges with its legacy system for business data analysis. The system was cumbersome and only a few employees had access to useful and timely data. This lack of data accessibility and transparency was hindering work efficiency and visibility into the business. The company needed a solution that would liberate its data and make it accessible to more people within the organization.
About The Customer
Purity Life Health Products LP is a leading distributor of natural health products in Canada. Founded in 1984, the company supplies products to more than 7,000 stores across the country, including major food, drug, and mass merchandisers as well as natural health food stores. Purity Life's mission is to deliver an unrivalled natural health products portfolio to retailers, and it strives to be innovative and operationally excellent. The company underwent a transformation in 2009, changing the way it did things to improve its operations and capabilities.
The Solution
Purity Life decided to deploy QlikView, a Business Discovery – user-driven BI – solution, across multiple functions of the organization. This platform enabled employees to drill down into massive amounts of complex data and uncover actionable insights. The implementation was done in collaboration with Qlik’s partner Allegro Business Intelligence, and applications were up and running within two days. The solution was first deployed to Purchasing and Finance, then to the Customer Service team, and finally for overall vendor management. Executives created a dashboard to track the company’s more than 200 vendors and provide a snapshot of sales, budgets, and margins.
