The Challenge
Radio Data Comms faced significant challenges with manual processes and lack of visibility into data usage. Device activation required unnecessary phone calls and emails, taking at least 24 hours, and billing irregularities took several days to manually investigate. As the company grew to around 20,000 connected devices, these manual administrative tasks became increasingly burdensome, resulting in costly overheads. The company needed a solution to automate these processes and improve efficiency.
About The Customer
Established in 1999, Radio Data Comms is a leading provider of advanced alarm communications technology solutions headquartered in Sydney, Australia. The company manufactures security alarm hardware and software for the security monitoring industry and manages a mobile network to enable wireless IP communications from protected premises into monitoring centers. Its flagship product, Permaconn, operates over 2G, 3G, 4G, and IP networks through multiple mobile network operators and is an internationally recognized brand. Permaconn is utilized in commercial, retail, and residential spaces in Australia, South Africa, New Zealand, and Papua New Guinea, with plans for further expansion.
The Solution
Radio Data Comms adopted Cisco Jasper Control Center, an automated IoT connectivity management platform, to address its challenges. The platform enabled rapid device activation, transparent and accurate billing, and real-time monitoring of usage. Automated rules were set to detect and resolve unusual device behavior, and remote SIM diagnostics helped with rapid resolution of connectivity issues. The integration of Control Center with Radio Data Comms' in-house built Atlas platform provided a dynamic user experience, empowering both the company and its customers. This automation facilitated the company's expansion into new markets and improved customer service.

Smart City Public Safety
Amyx+ worked with a local government authority to develop an Internet of Things-enabled public safety strategy. In the current state, vigilance meant manually scanning through potentially hundreds of analog surveillance videos feeds. Manual, costly and ineffective, the local agency desired to transition from analog to digital CCTV, apply computer vision and other technologies to automatically detect potential crime in progress, expedite and streamline emergency calls and integrate with personal wearables to ensure the safety of their citizens.

Vodafone Hosted On AWS
Vodafone found that traffic for the applications peak during the four-month period when the international cricket season is at its height in Australia. During the 2011/2012 cricket season, 700,000 consumers downloaded the Cricket Live Australia application. Vodafone needed to be able to meet customer demand, but didn’t want to invest in additional resources that would be underutilized during cricket’s off-season.
