The Challenge
Redwood Logistics, a third-party logistics and transportation management firm, was struggling with managing a complex reporting structure that relied on multiple siloed warehouses. The rapidly growing business needed a modern data stack that could support its mergers and acquisitions strategy, providing leadership with an accurate overview of business performance in near real time. The company was generating 500,000 data points per hour, which was a significant challenge to manage and process. The old system could only load data once a day and was prone to numerous daily failures, becoming a massive maintenance burden. Redwood was initially cautious about using Fivetran’s high-volume data replication because the team needed to understand how it interacted with their existing databases.
About The Customer
Redwood Logistics is a Chicago-based third-party logistics and transportation management firm. The company partners with its clients to develop custom solutions for every area of their supply chains, from warehousing to brokerage and fully managed transportation products. The rapidly growing business has a complex reporting structure that relies on multiple siloed warehouses. Redwood needed a modern data stack that could support its mergers and acquisitions strategy and provide leadership with an accurate overview of business performance in near real time.
The Solution
Redwood turned to a team from 2nd Watch, a global cloud services company, to build a modern data architecture. They deployed Fivetran’s high-volume data replication solution to automate the data replication from its on-premise SQL databases to the Snowflake Data Cloud. Fivetran now replicates numerous data types in Redwood’s Snowflake Data Cloud, including operational data, invoicing and payment data, TMS data, rating info, and extensive audit data. This data makes it easy for leadership teams to conduct rapid and comprehensive reporting in Tableau. The enterprise application has replaced numerous spreadsheets and ad hoc inquiries with a more modern data stack and data visualizations from Tableau.

Intelligent Building Automation System and Energy Saving Solution
One of the most difficult problems facing the world is conserving energy in buildings. However, it is not easy to have a cost-effective solution to reduce energy usage in a building. One solution for saving energy is to implement an intelligent building automation system (BAS) which can be controlled according to its schedule. In Indonesia a large university with a five floor building and 22 classrooms wanted to save the amount of energy being used.
