The Challenge
Sole Envy, a new retail shoe store catering to women, needed an inventory management system that could help track all shoe orders and sales. The challenge was to develop a system that could track inventory down to the color, size, and number in stock. This was crucial in increasing the store's buying power and knowing what brands and styles of shoes were selling best. The system also needed to be easy to use for all employees, provide a powerful POS interface, allow for expansion to other locations, and integrate easily with QuickBooks. Additionally, the founder wanted to make the store processes as environmentally sound as possible.
About The Customer
Sole Envy is a new retail shoe store catering to women. Founded by Laura Felt, the new retail outlet at a large regional mall sells all kinds of name brand shoes. As a start-up retailer with plans to grow in the Inter-mountain West, Felt, who had extensive retail experience before starting Sole Envy, wanted to start an environmentally sound business with easy streamlined business processes and point-of-sale (POS) designed for all of her employees to use and one that would allow her to manage the business off site. With seven employees, Felt also needed a system that was easy to use.
The Solution
Sole Envy implemented Fishbowl Warehouse as their inventory management system. Fishbowl’s Point of Sale module allowed each of Sole Envy’s employees to access the system based on their job roles. The store manager used Fishbowl’s purchase order module to receive inventory into the system as it arrived from the supplier. By tracking the shoe inventory down to the color, size, and number in stock, Sole Envy was able to increase its buying power. Fishbowl Warehouse provided quick and easy POS features that all employees could use, including generating reports for their specific jobs. The system also allowed Sole Envy to run an environmentally friendly business by eliminating paperwork.
Operational Impact
  • Fishbowl Warehouse increased Sole Envy’s buying power by providing detailed information on which shoes were selling the best.
  • The system provided a detailed report of the margins for each shoe sale Sole Envy makes, allowing the company to make smart decisions.
  • Fishbowl Warehouse provided quick and easy POS features that all employees could use, including generating reports for their specific jobs.
