The Challenge
TekJet, a Denver-based managed IT services provider, was looking to expand its services to include IT security. The company, which primarily serves small- and medium-sized businesses, had transitioned from a 'break-fix' business model to a managed services model, offering additional value-added services. However, to incorporate IT security into its service portfolio, TekJet needed a solution that would integrate seamlessly with its existing managed services platform. This platform was used for remotely managing customer infrastructures, including network components, servers, and desktop PCs. Furthermore, TekJet required the capability to remotely control policy and upgrades for all customers from their Network Operation Center.
About The Customer
TekJet, LLC is a managed IT services provider based in Denver, Colorado. The company offers comprehensive IT services to small- and medium-sized businesses, typically with less than 100 employees. Its clientele includes financial firms, oil and gas suppliers, contract manufacturers, law firms, and other businesses. Initially a 'break-fix' business, TekJet transitioned to a managed services model, providing additional value-added services. The company sought to expand its services to include IT security, requiring a solution that would integrate with its existing managed services platform used for remotely managing customer infrastructures.
The Solution
TekJet chose to implement a solution featuring the Security Management Portal (SMP) from Check Point, a central management and service provisioning platform, for the management of Safe@Office® Unified Threat Management (UTM) appliances. The SMP, coupled with Safe@Office, provided a comprehensive security solution that allowed TekJet to extend its managed services to include security solutions. With this solution, TekJet could offer its customers managed messaging security services, including spam filtering, antivirus and spyware protection, Web filtering, managed IPS services, comprehensive firewall management, and managed VPN capability. The SMP featured an intuitive, web-based user interface and a robust and resilient architecture. It integrated easily with TekJet’s existing managed services environment and supported the company's strategy to grow its managed service business. The central management platform also facilitated the management of multiple deployments, increasing revenue while lowering support costs.
