The Challenge
The Sofia Hotel, located near the coast of the Sea of Galilee in Tiberias, Israel, aimed to become the country's most sophisticated and advanced hotel using smart technology and the Internet of Things (IoT). The hotel, which is built above an ancient Ottoman structure, wanted to preserve its historic origins while leading Israel in building automation. The project, which began in 2017, was managed by Schneider Electric and Afcon Control and Automation, a master-level EcoXpert partner. The goal was to create a seamlessly responsive smart building that would provide an elevated experience for guests and give management real-time access to building analytics and control over every system.
About The Customer
The Sofia Hotel is a luxurious establishment located near the coast of the Sea of Galilee in Tiberias, Israel. The hotel is built above an ancient Ottoman structure, and it preserves the beauty of this ancient structure while incorporating modern, cutting-edge technology. The hotel has 120 rooms and suites, all equipped with the finest amenities and tech innovations. The Sofia Hotel is renowned for its luxurious amenities and exceptionally high performance, despite being in operation for less than a year. The hotel aims to provide an elevated experience for guests, with a seamlessly responsive smart building that allows management to have real-time access to building analytics and control over every system.
The Solution
Schneider Electric provided the products and integrated components to make the Sofia Hotel a leader in smart building technology. The key installation was a sophisticated Building Management System (BMS) that integrates and runs all the other hotel systems. The EcoStruxure BMS leverages the IoT to connect all the third-party systems, including energy, lighting, HVAC, fire safety, security, and the guest management system. Hotel staff can react and control any event in the hotel with great precision. The staff uses EcoStruxure Building Advisor to gain real-time insights. This suite of analytic services continuously monitors performance trends, enabling the hotel to ensure both optimum building performance and guest comfort. The Sofia Hotel boasts 120 smart rooms with 600 glass touch panels throughout the property, plus all the sensors and equipment that operate behind the scenes to help management run the building flawlessly.
