Yunzhibao Foodstuff Co., Ltd., a candy producer in China, was facing challenges due to the manual nature of its production and management processes. The company's operations lacked transparency, and data credibility was compromised due to the handover process between shifts. The company also heavily relied on individual workers, and the inability to capture and accumulate their knowledge and experience was a vulnerable point in Yunzhibao’s operations. The company needed to automate these processes, improve their standardization, and ensure product quality. They also needed to eliminate the 'black box' state of their operations and production, and make all product-related process knowledge transferable.
About The Customer
Yunzhibao Foodstuff Co., Ltd. is a confectionary manufacturer based in Jiangsu, China. The company has been in operation since 1995 and has developed over 200 different candy products through innovation and close cooperation with many of the world’s best-known food companies and supermarket chains. Yunzhibao's newest factory, located in the Jiangsu province, is now the largest candy producer in China. The company has experienced rapid growth and operates in a fast-moving and ever-changing consumer market.
The Solution
To overcome these challenges, Schneider Electric delivered a comprehensive automation and digital solution based on EcoStruxure, an open, interoperable, IoT-enabled system architecture and platform. The solution included AVEVA’s MES, customized for the Food and Beverage industry, and Modicon M580 and M340 PACs for efficient and automated production. The MES system can receive production orders from the ERP system and allocate them to each production line, forming a batch plan. This is then broken down into work orders which are connected to production standards and formulas sent to the control system to standardize control and prevent errors. The MES also plays an important role in ensuring food safety and product quality management.
