Tri-pol Enterprises, a dry van service company based in Calgary, Canada, was facing a steep increase in insurance premiums despite not having any driver claims, cargo claims, or collisions in the last 10 to 15 years. The insurance company planned on raising their premiums by 45 percent. Stacy Hill, the communication and safety manager of Tri-pol Enterprises, believed that he had enough evidence to prove to the insurance company that his drivers were safe. However, he needed a way to effectively present this data and convince the insurance company to lower the cost of the insurance premium.

The Solution
Hill used data from KeepTruckin’s Smart Dashcam to prove to the insurance company that his drivers were safe. He aggregated driver scorecards and used the data to improve driver performance. Specifically, he used the data to identify who to coach and the safety score enabled him to focus on the riskiest drivers. He also used the data to figure out who is being safe and who needs improvement, and aimed to systematize his safety protocol to make it scalable. The Smart Dashcam helped smooth out the tension with drivers during coaching sessions. With the Smart Dashcam and safety data, Hill was able to better process and outcomes in his data-driven safety program.
