The Challenge
Upat South Africa, a leading distributor of international building and allied construction brands, was facing a significant challenge in updating imported goods data into their SYSPRO ERP system. The company imports thousands of fixing and fixture products for the building industry, requiring a robust system for tracking the whereabouts and costs of these imported products. While Upat SA had developed such a system, they needed to integrate this data into their SYSPRO ERP system for sales and accounting purposes. The existing update process was manual and time-consuming, often taking over a week. It involved gathering data from consignments, including actual stock items and counts, and costs allocated against suppliers and other agents, and then inputting this data into SYSPRO.
About The Customer
Upat South Africa is a leading distributor of international building and allied construction brands. The company imports thousands of fixing and fixture products for the building industry, necessitating a robust system for tracking the whereabouts and costs of these imported products. In their sales environment, the quicker a product is available on their SYSPRO ERP system, the quicker it can be sold. Therefore, the efficiency of their data updating process is crucial to their operations. Upat SA is continually looking for ways to improve their processes and leverage technology to enhance their business operations.
The Solution
Upat SA turned to Flowgear, Africa’s cloud-based integration platform provider, to streamline their data updating process. By implementing a workflow on the Flowgear integration platform, the time to update data from a container delivery into SYSPRO was reduced to less than two hours. The process of querying Upat SA’s imports system was automated, and a Flowgear workflow was triggered whenever new data was detected. This automation not only sped up the data updating process but also allowed the company to utilize its existing staff in more productive ways than just data entry. Following the success of this implementation, Upat SA is planning to further leverage Flowgear to automate the process of updating inventory picking and packing data into invoices.
